How to Write a Salesletter Easily

October 12, 2009 - 8:06 pm

If you want to sell something on the internet you might need to write a salesletter. A salesletter is a one page website which tells people about your product, and why they should buy it.

You could study a few books to learn how to write great salesletters, but if you are a beginner you might get confused in this way. It’s a better idea to buy one good book and try first learning from it. Then you might get another book. But it takes time, so in the meantime you can read this article and it should be enough to write a good salesletter. To be successful at internet marketing you need to first learn a little bit, and then take action. You will learn by doing it. It’s the best way to learn. So let’s learn the basic steps of writing salesletters.

First, read some other salesletters about similar products as yours. Of course, don’t copy or plagiarize, but you get some good ideas and get inspired.

Second, write an interesting headline. The headline is very important. If the headline doesn’t catch people’s interest, they won’t read your salesletter, however interesting it is.

Write the headline in red, black or blue and use bigger font than for the rest of the page.

Third, tell a story. Tell about some problems people have in your niche. Then tell them how the thing you are selling can solve their problems.

Fourth, using bullet points or lists, tell people about all the benefits of your product. Write about as many benefits as you can.

Fifth, finish your newsletter calling for action. It means that you need to tell people to “buy now”. You need to tell them also why they should “buy now” Try to find some good reasons why they should act now. Otherwise people will procrastinate.

You can also make your salesletter better if you use the word “you” often. Use it more often than “I”, “we” or “us” combined.

Make your salesletter simple. The background should be white. Most of the text should be black. Use other colors to emphasize certain phrases.

Use a lot of “buzz phrases”, in proper context, that are important to your niche. Make these words more visible by highlighting or underlining them, or make them bold, italic, etc. But don’t overemphasize. Be selective. Emphasize the most important phrases only.

Don’t use caps too much. Don’t use too many images either. Better none, than too many.

Offer money back guarantee. It will increase your sales conversion.

To make people “act now” offer some bonuses.

Be honest; don’t over-exaggerate the benefits of your product.

Don’t try to make your salesletter perfect at first. Just write it, and then you can work on improving your salesletter.

Writing Articles Can Be A Profitable Business

August 8, 2008 - 2:09 pm

In the world of today, job satisfaction scores over most other factors. They are less inclined to become cogs in the wheel if they can help it. Moreover, one can do so much more today. The growth in the field of communications has opened up many opportunities. More and more people have begun to give up their day jobs in favor of more flexible work-from-home routines. The unprecedented rise of the Internet has been one of the major factors that have made this possible.

Among the groups who are benefiting from this expansion in communication are writers. The world of magazines and ezines are a vast area is open to all. In fact, anyone who can string a decent sentence together can now think of seriously think of writing professionally. These days, anyone can become a writer with a little investment and a certain degree of writing skill. Of course, it is not be all that easy when you are starting out. But once one does, the money will just keep coming in.

Marketing one’s skills becomes very important if one is looking to rake in the profits by writing articles. If one is planning to send articles to a bunch of magazines, it would be prudent to study the magazines and understand their specific styles. Having done that, one can commence writing articles that would appeal to those styles. Look at the case of someone who has to write about a spot of historic importance. His approach will certainly differ based on whether the article is intended for a business magazine, a travel blog, or a tourism website.

Writers must have the objective of selling the articles. One must write articles that will encourage more and more readers to go through them. Being able to place good content within the framework of a well-written article is a skill that writers need to develop.

Writers, in general, must bear in mind the fact that they have to write regularly if they want to improve. Practice makes perfect, and the more one writes, the better the writing becomes. It is advisable to read books and editorials that will broaden one’s horizons. It is necessary to be familiar with a large number of concepts so that if you required to write on some unusual topic, the idea will not be too difficult.

At the same time, one must learn to edit one’s own work. Typing errors are a fact of life. A single mis-type can change the meaning of a sentence. A spelling mistake might make the reader get the impression that the writer is incompetent. Thus, before attaching and mailing an article, it becomes essential to read through it thoroughly. Even a cursory proof-read could help one cull out a number of errors. Remember, when selling an article to a client, one must make sure that it is completely free of errors. To ensure that, one can also invest in some of the editing software that may be found quite readily.

Now, online writing may not result in a windfall. A client who needs a number of online articles is not likely to pay more than a small fraction of what an offline magazine might pay for an article with a similar word count. However, there is far more certainty if you are writing for the online world. The delays that are part and parcel of the offline magazine world are few and far between in the world of the Internet. One may not get a huge sum of money for a single article. However, one might manage to get paid a decent sum for a large number of articles. Also, most online articles are relatively short in length and tend to not require intensive research. Thus, a writer who is fairly quick can make quite a bit through this mode.

Another issue is being credited for the articles that one writes. Getting a byline may not be an option for amateurs. In fact, one might have to start out by ghostwriting for someone else. Even so, the point is that one is being able to hone his/her writing skills and receive payment for it. With time, one should be able to establish one’s credibility as a writer. Then, getting a byline might just be a cakewalk.

A large number of such writers start off by subscribing to some of the many freelance writing sites. This may prove useful in the case of someone who is unfamiliar with the working. Additionally, it is a good idea to acquire a website of one’s own from which one can carry out one’s article writing business. It is likely that the start will be slow, but writers have to keep trying. Once the offers start trickling in, and one starts producing good articles, there is no looking back. You could even hit the big time pretty soon.

Home Business Copywriting Ideas

April 30, 2008 - 3:19 pm

When you do any online research about home based businesses, you will likely find thousands of results that tell you that the most successful and easiest business to start from your home is a copywriting business. You can make a great living without ever having to get dressed or leave the privacy of your own home.

Out of all the home businesses that give you the option of solely working from home, such as marketing programs and designing companies, copywriting is still touted to be the best of its kind.

The biggest reason that copywriting has been dubbed the perfect at home business is due to the extremely low startup costs. You really don’t have to have any special talent, just be able to write in good English and grammar, mix in a little creativity, and you are raring to go.

If you have had any previous writing experience at all, you simply just boot up your computer, and go to work. For those who have little to no experience, but are still interested in starting a copywriting business from home, they should check out one of the many online classes available that teach you the writing basics you will need to know in order to get started.

Another benefit of an at home copywriting business is that you have the option of working your day job, and running the business on the side, or just simply depending on your copywriting business for your sole full-time source of income.

Few people are able to just up and quit their job to try and work from home, as they don’t have the capital needed to make ends meet while waiting on the profits to start rolling in. Home copywriting is also taking off with stay at home moms who are interested in contributing to the household income while still staying at home to care for their children, they can work when their schedule allows, and care for the family as needed.

The best of both worlds all in one tidy package, especially since the money made by these moms is extra income, there is no risk involved, and their family won’t starve if it doesn’t work out.

You can start this business no matter how old you are, what gender you are, or what type of physical condition that you are in. If you can write, and are physically able to sit at the computer and type, then you can do this work.

The success of your home copywriting business is not affected by changes in the economy. There will still be work for you, even if unemployment rates rise, and the cost of living and interest rates go up. The better the economy, the more work you will probably get, but no matter how bad it is, you will still have work to keep your business afloat, unlike some other home based businesses out there.

If you want to earn some extra money, for whatever the reason, then you should consider beginning your own at home copywriting business. If you do good work, and become highly sought after, you may be able to produce enough income to be able to stay at home and work fulltime for yourself. Wouldn’t it be nice to tell your boss goodbye, and know that you would still be financially secure?
